A Simpler Way of Peer-evaluation – TEAMMATES

by Freshak on February 14, 2013

Recently I got involved as a contributor to an online peer-evaluation application, TEAMMATES, which aims to be the biggest student peer-evaluation project in the world. I am proud to be part of the team and fascinated about the initiative behind this project and all the potential values it could bring to both users and developer community. A few shining points I need to highlight here and hopefully, we can get a bigger exposure and community domain as well.

Firstly and most importantly, TEAMMATES is a completely open source project. That means, it is totally free to use and will always be. And anyone who wants to contribute and make it better can freely join the developer community. Currently, we maintain a quite comprehensive development documentation, which help contributors easily get started.

Secondly, as a product, TEAMMATES has addressed the need on the market. In any school project, people have been always looking for an efficient, free and easy-to-use tool for peer evaluations. The presence of TEAMMATES perfectly meet this need and has competitive advantages in many aspects, compared with other existing applications.

Thirdly, TEAMMATES was envisioned from the initiative within students community. With the belief that students can put what they learnt into practice and create something which can be practically useful to the community. Thus, this project also serves as a platform for students to gain a taste of industry-standard product and sharpen their Software Engineering (SE) skills.

I really appreciate this chance of working on TEAMMATES project. If you have a dream and you desire to create something, which potentially change the way people work, you are always welcome to join our community!
